Letter-writer Peter Hewitt (“To be pro-choice is to be pro-abortion”) will never know the pains or joys of childbirth, nor will he face the need to make a difficult decision when pregnant.
But this is not my topic. My point is the words “pro-life” should be changed to “pro-birth,” since many of Peter’s ilk are against birth control and many programs that help young families such as food stamps and welfare. The baby arrives and who takes responsibility for it? A struggling young family that needs help.
Pro-birth folks need to show they care about real life, where people need to eat and rest and be healthy to love and cherish a baby.
