Hugh Cole fifth graders got a lesson in activism — and the good old-fashioned art of letter writing — in a recent project organized by three teachers.
Students in Shannon Swist’s, Marilyn Jones’s and Whitney Ruggeri’s classes were asked to write an opinion argument as the cumulative part of a writing unit. Letters came in on many subjects, including the gender pay gap, adopting pets, the danger of spending too much time on the cell phone, and more.
