'Candle Man' was a fun, kind and loving

Gerard “Jerry” Laroche, 76, of Warren, RI, passed away at his home on April 2, 2018, with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Susan (Smith) Laroche.

Jerry was born in Fall River, a son of the late George and Lillian (Rogers) Laroche. He made candles and in previous years was the franchisee owner of 7 Eleven in North Kingstown. He was known as the candle man and the weatherman.

Jerry was a communicant of the former St. Jean-Baptiste Church, a member of the Weatherfun, and a past troop master of Troop 49 of Warren, RI. Most of all, Jerry was a fun and kind, loving person who was devoted to his family.

Besides his wife Susan of 58 years, he is survived by his children, Tracey Pimentel and Keith Laroche, both of East Providence, Kevin Laroche of Warren and Leslie Trombley of Providence; grandfather of five and great-grandfather of two. Jerry was also the brother of Kenneth Laroche of Swansea.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 9 am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, Main St. Warren. Interment will follow in St. Jean-Baptiste Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to Kindred Hospice Care, 2374 Host Road Warwick, RI 02886 or to the Warren Fire and Rescue Dept., 1 Joyce St. Warren, RI 02885 in Jerry’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.

For expressions of sympathy, to sign an online guestbook, make a donation to his family or to light a memorial candle, visit www.silvafuneralhome.com. Arrangements are with the Silva Funeral Home of Taunton, MA.
