The owner of the Galactic Theatre is taking steps to keep noise to a minimum as he prepares to move the theatre from its current location at 508 Main St. to a new location in the former Dan’s Wigwam Restaurant at 440 Main St.
David Podsnap appeared before the Warren Town Council Tuesday night to request a transfer of his licenses from the old location to the new. Council members voted to approve the change, and wished Mr. Podsnap well.
During the discussion, council president Joseph DePasquale asked what is being done to insulate tenants who live above the space from noise. Mr. Podsnap said he has spoken to his neighbors and is installing multiple layers of sheet rock and soundproofing material to keep music from bleeding into the upstairs apartments.
Meanwhile, preparation of the new space continues. On Wednesday, workers removed a series of three deteriorated red awnings from the front of the Galactic’s new home and two adjacent storefronts to the north.
If all goes as planned, Mr. Podsnap hopes to be in the new space in a few weeks.
“This is going to help wake up that corner,” he said of the move.
