Eleanor M. “Nana Ellie” Gaines, 96, of Bristol

Eleanor M. “Nana Ellie” ( Turner) Gaines, 96, of Bristol, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at Crestwood Nursing Home, surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of the late Richard W. Gaines.

Eleanor was born in Waltham, Mass., a daughter of the late Joseph and Eva M. (Stuart) Turner. 

Mrs. Gaines was a secretary for the Bulova Watch Company, in Waltham, for many years.

Nana Ellie lived in Bristol for over 40 years, coming from Barrington.

She enjoyed gardening, boating and vacations with her family and also spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Bruins fan.

Mrs. Gaines was the mother of Valerie Pelletier of Bristol, and the sister of Joseph Turner of Billerica, Mass. Nana Ellie was the grandmother of Christopher Pelletier, Jared Pelletier and his wife, Gail.

She was also the great-grandmother of Alex and Kate, Hannah, Emma, Ryan, Cade, Tyler and George.

She was the great-great-grandmother of Isaiah. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Robert Turner, Caroline Davock, and Edna Taranto.

Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at 10 a.m. in SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Burial in North Burial Ground, Bristol.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 6 p.m.
