Chariho blanks Huskies 7-0 in Pod I playoff game, game two is Saturday
The Mt. Hope baseball team lost to Chariho 7-0 in a Division II Pod I playoff game at Pierce Field on Thursday afternoon. It was the Huskies first lost in the playoffs. The two teams will now duke it out on Saturday at Pierce Field at 6:30 p.m. in the Pod I finale for the right to play the Pod II winner in the Division II championship series.
Chariho pitcher Sean Sposato pitched a complete game shut out. It was the first time that the Huskies have been shut out all season.
Mt. Hope starter Connor Padovich came out of the game in the middle of the third inning with the bases loaded, no outs and 2 runs scored for Chariho. Padovich never looked right in the game. A player said that he had a blister on his pitching hand.
Freshman Ethan Leary took over for the ace, but had trouble getting out of the inning. Chariho scored 3 more runs to make it 5-0.
Chariho ace Sposato kept cruising through the game, although the Huskies bashed a number of sharply hit balls that were snared by the Chariho defense.
London Camelo and Caden Cabral also pitched for the Huskies.
