Caroline P. (Viera) Couto, age 91, of Warren, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at the Evergreen House Health Center, surrounded by her family.  She was the wife of the late George M. Couto.

Caroline P. Couto, 91, Warren

Caroline P. (Viera) Couto, age 91, of Warren, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at the Evergreen House Health Center, surrounded by her family.  She was the wife of the late George M. Couto.

Born in Warren, she was one of 21 children born to the late Frank and Mary (Peters) Viera.  A long-time resident of Warren, she also lived in Grant, Fla. for over 20 years.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a clerk at the Puritan Life Insurance Company.  She was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Sorority and enjoyed gardening, writing and singing. Mrs. Couto was artistically talented and liked to crochet.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by three children, Sharon Walsh and her husband Robert of Prescott Valley, AZ, Carol Couto and her husband Peter Martin of Bristol, and Wayne Couto and his wife Karen of South Beach, OR; two grandchildren, Sara Beth Walsh of New York, NY, and Nathan Walsh of Severna Park, MD; and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Claire. 

Her visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main St., Warren. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Warren.
