The Sims 3 Pets should be sent to the pound

Sims 3 Pets

The Sims 3 Pets is the latest release in The Sims franchise. Players now have fully controllable pets that are completely customizable including personality traits. Explore the town with mans best friend and sniff out treasures and find mysteries.

So with this latest Sims release players have full control of pets and new personality traits have been added. That’s pretty much it. It’s basically a re-release of Sims 3. Minor tweaks to the control system has been made but nothing major.

I have to say I’m not a huge fan of this series. The set up of your character(s) can be very time consuming. You have to set all the physical traits with so many options. Then you need to setup your pet. And now you have personality traits to set. I just want to play. I guess you could go with the default character but that can be a little boring. And if my wife sees me playing, she just has to sit down and recreate the family. She’s a big fan.

The personality traits are a nice addition though. You can go through and add a bunch of traits to either your human or animal character(s) which affects how they act and react in the game. It’s pretty cool and can really make them act in a more realistic way. My wife made an avatar of me and it was pretty close.

The major addition in Sims 3 Pets is the addition of fully controllable pets. You can select either a cat or dog and can create as many as you’d like. Bring on the cat ladies. They are fully customizable which is a good feature but just adds more time to character setup instead of playing the game. You can control them just like your human characters and make them perform a variety of activities and interact with your human characters.

Sims 3 Pets | Finding Treasure

Mini-games like finding treasure add more substance to the latest Sims release.

I grew bored of Sims 3 Pets after awhile. This always happens to me when playing a Sims game. I was tempted to just not play it anymore, but while roaming around as Spike, my mini Pincer, I found some treasure and discovered a mystery which totally peaked my interest. These mini games are a great addition and should be the focus of the game. There are also some fun achievements for your pet which just adds more depth to the game.

Pets are promoted as the best part of Sims 3 Pets and it does feel that way when you begin. The human characters could have been left out. I found them to be unimproved, for the most part, from the previous game and didn’t add much to the game. The pets were a great twist to the traditional Sims game with hidden treasures and mysteries a huge plus. I would have loved to see more.

Overall the game was ok. Über fans of the Sims series will love it. It is very similar to the past games which makes it easier to pick up and play. But for gamers who play Sims occasionally, they will find it too similar to past games with only minor updates and changes. Mini games are fun but there are not enough to carry this game.
