A Westport man wanted on eight outstanding default warrants was finally captured Tuesday, Feb. 19, inside his mother’s Westport home.

Detective Jeff Majewski said that Westport police officer Turner Ryan was able to track down Scott Rogers, 32, of 11 Rosalyn Street, Westport, at his mother’s house after a car linked to Mr. Rogers was seen parked outside.

Unlike other run-ins with Westport Police, this one happened without incident.

“If Westport Police had a top ten list, he would have been on it, “ Det. Majewski said.

Mr. Scott’s latest list of eight warrants are connected to crimes that date back to May of 2017, Det. Majewski said.

Several times police managed to get close to him. On a couple of occasions he was seen in a car but when police attempted to catch him, he fled from the car and across Route 6 into woods or behind buildings. At least once, a K-9 unit was brought in without success.

Most recently, a car in which he was seen (it is unclear if he was the driver or a passenger) was registered to the deceased relative of a friend, Det. Majewski said.

The arrest warrants included crimes for multiple counts of possession of a Class B Substance (crack cocaine), possession of a Class A substance (Oxycodone), possession of a Class E substance (Gabapentin), resisting arrest, numerous motor vehicle violations including driving with a suspended driver’s license, failure to stop for police (multiple counts), and larceny of a motor vehicle.

These offenses had taken place in Westport, Fall River, Acushnet, and Seekonk. He was arraigned in New Bedford Third District Court and is being held on $2,500 cash bail.
