PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High varsity boys’ basketball team built a big lead at halftime and cruised to a 66-43 win over the visiting Tiverton Tigers Friday night, Jan. 25.

The Patriots lead at the break, 37-13 — a lead that proved to be insurmountable for Tiverton, who outscored the home team in the second half by a point.

The win improved Portsmouth’s record to 9-2 in Division II and 11-4 overall, while dropping Tiverton to 6-4 in league play and 7-4 overall.

Portsmouth’s Jack Skrzypiec led all scorers with 19 points.

Ben Hurd (13 points), Parker Mason (12) and Justin Parsons (9) also contributed to the offense. 

Tiverton’s Carson Hart led his team with 15 points, followed by Tim Levakis (8), Will Brighan (7) and Josh Dore (5).
