Letter: Is Arlene Violet ‘over the top’ for Obama?

To the editor:

OK Arlene Violet, you are not over the top for Trump. (East Bay Life column, Jan. 10-11). Are/were you over the top for Barak Obama?

The eight years under that president were the most corrupt in our nation’s history. The IRS targeted conservative organizations to make it difficult if not impossible to achieve non-profit status. The FBI and Justice Department failed to prosecute a top government employee who was using and unsecured server and computer to process classified government information.

The fact that she also destroyed evidence didn’t seem to matter either. In fact, holdovers from that administration still in these agencies are stonewalling requests for investigative information. Despite the biased liberal media, we are aware of these goings-on. What most of us might not be privy to was an Obama-era scheme that forced companies sued by the government to fund leftist groups and overtly exclude conservative organizations.

As part of settlements totaling $1 billion, the Justice Department would often give the corporations double credit if they gave money to leftwing interest groups hand-picked by the administration instead of paying the government. The operation is/was known as a Department of Justice “slush fund,” which filled the coffers of Obama-allied non-profits.

From what is being discovered in regard to the ongoing “supposed” Trump-Russian collusion investigation, the above is just the tip of the iceberg as to the extent of the corruption and lawlessness of the previous administration. The collusion may in fact have been between the Clinton campaign and the Russians. Well, Ms. Violet, as an attorney and former Rhode Island attorney general, why have I not seen one of your columns deal with this?
