Irene Elizabeth Wilder, 92, Tiverton

Irene Elizabeth Wilder, 92 of Tiverton, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Village House Convalescent Home in Newport. Wife of the late Robert C. Wilder, they enjoyed 53 years together until his passing in 2000.

Irene was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Walter and Irene (Sheehan) French. Irene was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. As a young woman, Irene worked for the telephone company. She then went to Raytheon Company as a phone operator when the plant first opened.

Irene enjoyed quality time honing her baking skills. Her greatest joy was being “Nana” to her grandchildren and various dogs over the years. 

Irene is survived by her four children, Beverly A. Dowty of Portsmouth, Robin L. Ferreira (Arthur) of Fall River, Anne M. Cray of Fall River and Stephen J. Wilder of Tiverton; and a sister, Lois (French) Heliker of Florida. She was a grandmother of six a great-grandchildren of four, and leaves several nieces and nephews. She also was the sister of the late Pauline (French) Lyons. 

Following cremation, Irene’s memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m. in the Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway, Fall River. Visitation will be held prior from 5 to 7 p.m. Online guestbook available at www.boulefuneralhome.com
