Gloria McMurrough, 89, Tiverton

Posted

Gloria McMurrough passed peacefully in her daughter Wendy's arms on Sunday, March 31, 2019.  Gloria was born on June 10, 1929, and would of enjoyed her 90th birthday this summer.  She was the beloved daughter of Sara and William Dagilas of Chestnut Hill, Mass., where Gloria grew up.

Gloria was the adored wife of Frank McMurrough and lived in the house they built along the Sakonnet River in Tiverton. After Frank passed, Gloria continued to live in their home in Tiverton.  With Frank, Gloria traveled to Austria and throughout Europe celebrating their love and joy in all they did.  Gloria leaves two daughters, Wendy Smith of Little Compton, and Amy Dillow of Morriston, Florida.

Gloria was the definition of love, caring and kindness.  She lived a vibrant and fulfilling life.  She was Associate Director of Admissions at Roger Williams University for 40 successful years.  Additionally, she received the distinguished RIAAO member award for leading admission counselors in New England.  Her commitment and dedication to her job was admired and respected by many.  Gloria was also a member of the Tiverton Book Club and enjoyed many friends in that group.  Gloria belonged to St. Catherine's Church in Little Compton.

Gloria was especially fond of her dog, Duncan; anyone who knew her would always see them together.  The family is sure Duncan was the first to greet her in heaven.  Gloria was an example of living life fully.  She enjoyed gardening, and walking five miles a day with Duncan up until two years ago.  She was loved and respected by many friends.  She was the most loving and wonderful mother two daughters could want.  She will be missed each day for the happy visits and chats on the phone.  As a mother, she was someone her daughters could count on, who has been there forever for them, to talk about anything big or small.

Gloria lived a life of love and appreciation of all.

Private arrangements are with the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Road, Tiverton.  www.almeida-pocasset.com for on line guest book.

He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
