It’s the color of the season, with a daffodil-themed weekend in Bristol, and a full month’s schedule events at Blithewold, where tens of thousands of brilliant yellow daffodils trumpet the arrival of spring.
Officially, Blithewold’s Daffodil Days began on April 6 and continue through April 28. Unofficially, the daffodils are expected to “peak” around mid-month this year, though weather could impact that. Daffodil Days Programs include afternoon teas, concerts, guided walks, floral design and gardening programs, and the Fairy Festival. For a full schedule of events, visit blithewold.org.
This weekend, the Daffodil celebration is town-wide, as Bristol comes alive with hundreds of daffodils lining downtown streets and at participating storefronts. Bristol Daffodil Days events include special daffodil-themed restaurant menu items and daffodil gifts, fun, raffles, live Jazz music and store sales. Consumers can look for daffodil window/door clings to direct them to which businesses are participating in the weekend’s festivities. Local businesses will also be participating in a decorating contest, and you can vote for your favorite display of daffodils put together by small businesses. Ballots will be available at participating businesses. Family Events on Saturday at Independence Park will include a Children’s Parade at 10 a.m. Kids—bring daffodil decorated bikes, trikes, scooters, wagons, baby carriages. Prizes will be awarded. Prizes and ribbons will be awarded to the best daffodil-themed pups at the 11 a.m. Dog Parade, and at noon, a Daffy Hat Pageant will award the best festively decorated daffodil hat. Registration for events begins at 9 a.m.
