The Burma Shave signs are up along Pardon Gray Preserve on Main Road, a sure sign the Tiverton Land Trust is gearing up for its annual “A Country Day at Pardon Gray” Saturday. This year you can operate a working model of the Rose Island Lighthouse, grind corn, play drums and see artifacts from the Haffenreffer Museum’s Natives of Southeast New England collection. Watch the Flying Wings perform precision remote-controlled aerial stunts. Listen to music by Gary Farias, Bocheck, Sibling Rivalry and Tiverton High School Strings. Decorate pumpkins (pictured), climb a truck, take a hay ride, make bird nesting boxes with high school woodworking students for minimal cost of materials, and enjoy Gray’s ice cream, barbecue and other treats at a low price. And that’s just the half of it. Proceeds will protect habitat for wildlife and trails for the public.
