The Roots of “Beautiful Bristol”

Dr George Rogers Hall is recognized as the first American importer of Japanese plants to the United States, and his specimens have become the backbone of estate landscaping. Dr. Sara Butler of RWU will deliver a talk focusing on Charles Adam Platt’s 1902 design for a Country Place at North Farm as a trail-blazing effort of landscape preservation. Platt incorporated a portion of George Rogers Hall’s notable collection of nineteenth century trees and shrubs in his design, trees and shrubs which we are still enjoying today.

Where: Mount Hope Farm, Metacom Ave., Bristol
When: 7 p.m., March 20
