Westport’s Dianne B. Snyder Tennis Complex offers clinics and leagues for a wide range of skill levels and ages in the coming weeks.

Kids’ “Learn to Play” Tennis Clinics:  July 8 through August 14, Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

These clinics are geared to elementary and middle school aged children who want to learn to play tennis.  No prior instruction is necessary.  The six-week clinic is designed in a progressive format, beginning with basics of stroke fundamentals and footwork, advancing into rally drills, then getting youngsters playing the game of tennis as the weeks advance. Instructed by Coastal Quick Tennis, the program uses USTA’s recommended “quick start” method of teaching tennis to children that is fun and interactive, and accelerates skill development.  The three-week option offers an introduction for those who cannot commit for the whole program. Space is limited, please register by July 3. Visit the website for price and time details.

• Junior Tennis League:  July 9 through August 20,  Wednesdays 9 to 10:30 a.m.

For players eighth grade and under who have the basics down, are comfortable in rallies and playing out points/ games.  The Jr. Tennis League provides middle school aged children the next step in tennis development – match play. Players will have fun competing in singles and doubles formats to see who is on top of the ladder by the end of the season. Registration deadline is July 3.  $35.00
