Free Day at Bristol’s Herreshoff Museum

The Herreshoff Marine Museum will welcome visitors from far and wide for a day-long celebration of the season on Sunday. Free Day offers free museum admission, complimentary soup and cider, family activities, a museum store sale and a truck sale featuring quality apparel and gear for sailors, skiiers and outdoor enthusiasts. The museum will also open the newly remodeled Mosbacher Room, featuring the collection of the America’s Cup sailor, for visitors to tour. The room is traditionally used for small meetings and rental events and include photographs, scrapbooks and trophies. Visitors are also welcome to tour Building 28, the museum’s restoration building which houses The Reliance Project. Project volunteers are currently constructing a 1/6th scale model of the 1903 defender.

Other Bristol organizations are also offering free admission Sunday, including Mt. Hope Farm, Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum, Coggeshall Farm Museum and the Bristol Art Museum. Blithewold has a large celebration an apple pie contest.
