‘Winter’s Bone’ screened in Barrington

Winter's Bone

Jennifer Lawrence, of “Hunger Games” fame, earned an Oscar nomination for her work in “Winter’s Bone,” which is been screened for free Thursday at Barrington Public Library. She plays 17-year-old Ree Dolly, who challenges her outlaw kin’s code of silence and risks her life while trying to track down her missing father. Based on the novel by Daniel Woodrell, the 2010 film is a gritty, dark drama that’s rated R. It’s been shown as part of the library’s “Indie Flicks You Never Saw But Wished You Did (Or Just Want to See Again!)” film series.
