Ben Church (left) plays Billy and Ed Shea is Martin in “The Goat or Who is Sylvia?” by Edward Albee, which is at 2nd Story Theatre through Oct. 21. Martin, a successful architect who is happily married and the father of a teen-age son, is turning 50, but his is no run-of-the-mill mid-life crisis. Albee’s controversial, perversely funny play about tolerance, family and the unimaginable won the 2002 Tony Award for Best New Play. Says artistic director Mr. Shea, who’s also 2nd Story’s artistic director, “This persistently provocative play is for only the most stalwart of theatergoers. Pearl-clutchers beware.” Mark Peckham directs the production, which is recommended for mature audiences.
