Leopold beats Fiorenzano to win 109th Amateur title

PORTSMOUTH — Two golfers with local ties vied for the 109th State Amateur Championship Friday, July 11, at Montaup Country Club, Wannamoisett’s Bobby Leopold edging Metacomet’s Andrew Fiorenzano, 4-and-2, in the 36-hole finale. For Leopold, the title was his second. He won the 2009 crown with a 3-and-2 win over Bill Forcier at nearby Crestwood.
