Offer to pay Portsmouth $1.5M for Glen easement withdrawn

Last month the Town Council agreed to tear down the Elmhurst Elementary School — closed now for three years — but spare the chapel and music room that connects the building to the Glen Manor House.

PORTSMOUTH — The Aquidneck Island Land Trust (ALT) had formally withdrawn its offer to pay the Town of Portsmouth $1.5 million for a conservation easement on Glen Farm. ‘Sustainability center’ proposed for Portsmouth

The indoor Aquidneck Growers Market (it's closed but will re-open March 30) is located in St. Mary's old parish house, which would be the headquarters of a proposed sustainability center.
