Alice Bettencourt Russo, 88, of Port Charlotte, FL., died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Tidewell Hospice Palliative Care in Florida.

She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Russo Jr. and the late Manuel Bettencourt. Born in Cranston, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Mary Eva (Edvidge) Cunha.

She previously lived in Cranston and East Providence before moving to Florida in 1989.

She worked as an assembler for General Electric Co. for 34 years before retiring in 1978.

She is survived by her children; Manuel Bettencourt of North Port, FL, Joan A. Kaiser of Broken Arrow, OK, and Patricia A. Swinamer of Ellijay, GA; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers, Clarence L. Cunha and Eugene Cunha, both of East Providence. She was the sister of the late Charles, Gilbert and Anthony Cunha, Manuel C. Joseph, Giteria Fonseca, Mary Cunha and Eva DeBlasio.

Her funeral was held April 26 from the Rebello Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial followed in St. Ann's Cemetery.
