Active in local gun and rod clubs

Joseph Moniz Jr., 65, of 298 Juniper St., died Friday evening, April 25, 2008, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center.

He was the beloved husband of Holly (Gaskin) Moniz.

Born in Providence, Nov. 29, 1942, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Vieira) Moniz. Mr. Moniz was a retired member of the Mass. Carpenters Union Local 1305, last working as a project manager for D.F. Pray General Contractors, Seekonk. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1528. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and softball and was very active with local gun and rod clubs.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughters and son-in-law, Heather Moniz, Lori and Scott Medeiros, and Lisa McNally; his three grandchildren, Rachel and Taylor Medeiros and Shannon McNally; and his brother, Charles Moniz.

His funeral was held April 30 from the Rebello Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial followed at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
