Working experiences could help board

To the editor:

My name is Cheryl Faria and I am running for one of the two open seats on the Seekonk Library Board of Trustees. I have three main reasons why I hope Seekonk residents will choose to elect me as a new member of the library board of trustees on April 7th.

First, I have lived in Seekonk for nearly 20 years and am a great admirer and supporter of the Seekonk Public Library. I think that director Sharon St. Hilaire, her welcoming staff, the Friends of the Library and the library trustees have done a great job of managing the library and I would like to help ensure their continued success.

Secondly, there are some exciting initiatives happening at the library that I would love to help bring to life including the educational programs and performance opportunities, the recent renovations, the continual technological upgrades and the exciting new Seekonk park on the library grounds.

Thirdly, I feel that I am uniquely qualified to provide value to the library and the Seekonk Community. I have 10 years experience in the private sector and 20 years experience running nonprofit entrepreneurial programs for Bryant University and RISD. I have bachelor degrees in art education and music, an MBA and am a Certified URI Master Gardener. I am also in the fortunate position of having time and energy to devote towards helping the library achieve its goals.

I would be honored to serve on the Seekonk Library Board of Trustees.
