Vehicle snaps State Road utility pole

A Thursday evening, March 20, one-vehicle crash on Main Road severed a utility pole and sent the driver to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Westport Police were called to the vicinity of 586 State Road at about 6:30 p.m. where they found that a westbound vehicle had swerved off the north side of State Road and into the pole.

The driver, Paulo Albergaria, 32, of Fall River, was taken by Westport Fire Department ambulance to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River.

Verizon and NStar ere called to the scene where they made repairs.

The crash is being investigated by Westport Police officers Gary Cambra and Brian Souza.
