Warren Police Reports: March 11 to March 16

The following calls were taken by Warren Police from Tuesday, March 11 to Sunday, March 16:

Tuesday, March 11

Kenneth Evers, 36, of Bristol, was arrested on a warrant for five charges of issuing fraudulent checks. Warren police said Mr. Evers was arrested in Bristol and transferred to their custody. The checks totaled $169. Mr. Evers was arraigned and released, and assigned a March 21 court date.

A caller reported a car hitting a wall on Birchswamp Road at about 7:30 a.m. Police investigated and said there was no car present when they arrived. The wall did not appear to have any damage.

A motor vehicle accident was reported at Main and Greene streets at about 8:35 a.m. No injuries were reported.

A caller said a person parked in a bus lane on Child Street refused to leave the area. Police arrived and told the person to move.

A car struck a parked car on Main Street at 3:15 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Heavy smoke was reported in the area of Fern Drive. Police investigated and said it was a controlled fire, and the homeowner was advised to put it out.

A person on Vernon Street reported two men going through people's trash in the area. The men were in a Ford pick-up truck with two washing machines in the bed. Police said the truck was gone when they arrived.

Wednesday, March 12

Michael Palmeiri, 23, of Bristol, was arrested on charges of domestic vandalism and domestic disorderly conduct. Police said during an argument with his girlfriend, Mr. Palmeiri used a wooden chair to break through a wooden door at her Liberty Street home. He then left the area. Police said they found Mr. Palmeiri on Metacom Avenue and arrested him without incident. Mr. Palmeiri was transferred to the ACI because he couldn't post $1,000 bail, but he was then held without bail for being a Superior Court violator. Mr. Palmeiri pleaded no contest to a charge of breaking into a building with felonious intent in January 2007, which carried a seven year suspended sentence. A violation hearing is scheduled for March 27.

A man reported that his friend was fighting with his girlfriend at an Ellis Avenue apartment at about 2:47 a.m. Police investigated and said nobody would answer the door. No arrests were made.

A woman reported that she believed her daughter skipped school and was at a house on Water Street. Police investigated and found the girl, and turned her over to her mother. DCYF was also notified.

A motor vehicle accident was reported on Metacom Avenue near Laurel Lane at about 12:07 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Thursday, March 13

Kara Dalessio, 29, of Barrington, was arrested for refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police said they made a traffic stop on Main Street after clocking Ms. Dalessio's car at 50 m.p.h. in a 30 m.p.h. zone. Police said Ms. Dalessio failed a field sobriety test and refused to submit to a chemical test. Ms. Dalessio was issued a March 24 date for the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal.

Kenneth Hunt, 25, of 211 Market St., was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear at a court hearing on a driving without a license charge. Police said an officer spotted Mr. Hunt as a passenger in a car traveling down Metacom Avenue. Mr. Hunt was transferred to the ACI because he could not post $477 in bail.

A caller reported a large tree laying across wires on Maple Road at about 3:55 p.m. Police investigated and notified National Grid, Full Channel and Verizon of the problem.

A woman said her roommate called her about a dog possibly hit on the side of Serpentine Road at about 6:22 p.m. Police investigated and said the dog was gone when they arrived.

Friday, March 14

Laura Bolvin, 26, of North Providence, was arrested on a charge of refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police said Ms. Bolvin's car was traveling 64 m.p.h. in a 35 m.p.h. zone on Metacom Avenue. Police said Ms. Bolvin failed a field sobriety test and refused to take the chemical test. Ms. Bolvin was released to the custody of her cousin and assigned a March 24 date in front of the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal.

Veber Teixeira, 28, of 372 Child St., was arrested for domestic assault, domestic disorderly conduct and domestic vandalism. Police said they received a call at about 3:10 a.m. of a disturbance at the home. According to police, Mr. Teixeira flipped over a coffee table, punched a hole in the wall and bloodied the lip of his girlfriend at his home on Child Street. Mr. Teixeira pleaded not guilty, and a pretrial hearing was scheduled for March 28. A no-contact order is in place between Mr. Teixeira and the victim.

A caller reported a possible fight on the front lawn of a Market Street home between some children at about 11:10 p.m. Police investigated and said the parties were gone when they arrived.

Saturday, March 15

A 17-year-old East Providence boy was arrested just before midnight for refusing to submit to a chemical test and possession of alcohol by a minor. Police said they made a traffic stop after clocking the boy's car at 40 m.p.h. in a 25 m.p.h. zone. on Main Street near Baker Street. He was stopped at the Barrington Bridge. The boy failed a field sobriety test, and refused to take a chemical test. The boy also had a case of Natural Ice beer in his car, but police said they did not know where he got it from. There were no passengers in the car. The arrest will be referred to Rhode Island Family Court.

A man on Wood Street asked police to remove his brother from his home at about 12:39 a.m. Police convinced the brother to leave.

A caller stated a car rolled over in the area of Barton Avenue at about 1:12 p.m. No other information was provided.

Sunday, March 16

A woman reported that she and her son were assaulted at about 9 p.m. on Main Street. Police investigated and said the car, a Volvo, had left the area.

The following cases were heard over the past two weeks in Sixth Division District Court:

Richard Budlong, 44, of 22 Asylum Road, pleaded no contest to a charge of driving with a suspended license. Mr. Budlong was ordered to pay a $350 fine and court costs.

Kerry Lull, 37, of 304 Metacom Ave., pleaded no contest to a charge of disorderly conduct. The charge will be filed for a year, and a no contract order was enacted between Mrs. Lull and a 31-year-old Warren woman.

Melanie Vollaro, 31, of 237 Market St., pleaded no contest to two charges of simple assault. Mrs. Vollaro was ordered to serve a year of probation and given a one-year suspended sentence for each charges, to be served concurrently. Mrs. Vollaro was also ordered to undergo anger management counseling, and a no contact order was enacted between her and a 37-year-old Warren woman.

Michael Taft, 42, of 51 Cutler St., pleaded no contest to a charge of domestic assault. He was ordered to serve a year of probation and given a one-year suspended sentence. The court also ordered Mr. Taft to undergo mental health and domestic violence counseling. A no-contact order was enacted.

Stephen Morra, 18, of Bristol, pleaded no contest to a charge of drunken driving. The court ordered Mr. Morra to surrender his license for three months, pay a $1,250 fine, attend DWI school and serve 10 hours of community service.

Erica Prenda, 29, of 86 Kickemuit Road, did not appear at a hearing for a suspended license charge. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
