Navy veteran, leaves a daughter in Barrington
Joseph A. Sullivan, 80, formerly of Crawford Road, East Providence, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Bethany Home, Providence. He was the husband of the late Anna E. (D'Allesandro) Sullivan.
Born in Providence, a son of the late John T. and Agnes (McDonough) Sullivan, he was a lifelong resident of East Providence.
Mr. Sullivan was a shop foreman for Hart Engineering, East Providence, for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was also the owner of Porta Stor Co., East Providence, for 11 years.
Mr. Sullivan was a communicant of St. Martha Church and St. Brendan Church. He was a member of Wannamoissett Country Club and enjoyed golfing.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He leaves four sons, Steven J. Sullivan of East Providence, Neil T. Sullivan of Sarasota, Fla., and Brian F. and Robert A. Sullivan, both of Peacedale; three daughters, Shirley S. Page of Wakefield, Joanne E. Donahue of Barrington and Mary Ann Manzo of North Providence; a sister, Marguerite Cosmo of East Providence; two brothers, Ronald Sullivan in Kentucky and Theodore Sullivan of East Providence; and 14 grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Anna Raposa, Robert, John and Francis Sullivan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
