Gladys M. (Lawton) Wordell, 93, of Little Compton, died on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at home. She was the widow of Winthrop B. Wordell.

Born in Westford, Mass., a daughter of the late Luther and Ruth (Mullen) Lawton, she had lived in Little Compton for most of her life.

Prior to retirement, she was a caregiver for several families in the area. Mrs. Wordell was a member of the Little Compton United Congregational Church, the Rebecca's of Little Compton, and a former member of the Little Compton Grange.

She leaves two sons, Paul Wordell and Barry Wordell, both of Little Compton; two daughters, Barbara Ambrogio of Middletown and Joyce Moson of Little Compton; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Paul L. Lawton.

Her funeral will be Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Little Compton United Congregational Church at 11 a.m. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
