WWII Army vet, carpenter, enjoyed cards, bowling
Henry J. Vaillancourt, 80, of Westport died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at Blaire House of New Bedford after a brief illness. He was the husband of Lillian (Sevigny) Vaillancourt.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Ignace J. and Marie (Levesque) Vaillancourt. He had lived in Westport since 1950.
Mr. Vaillancourt was a carpenter in Local Union No. 1305 of Fall River for 45 years until his retirement in 1980.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
A communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport, he was a member of Our Lady of Grace Senior Citizens. He enjoyed playing cards and bowling.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Henry J. Vaillancourt and his wife, Terri, of Westport, and Gerard W. Vaillancourt of Fall River; two daughters, Joyce Durette and her husband, Gerard, of Westport, and Trudy Ratcliffe and her husband, Andy, of North Dartmouth; two brothers, E. Paul Vaillancourt of Westport and Richard Vaillancourt of Tiverton, R.I.; three sisters, Jeanne Bouley and Annette Martin, both of Fall River, and Helen Hart of Somerset; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Cecile Bailer, Robert Vaillancourt, Theresa Gagne, Lorraine Egger, Blanche Allie and Augustine Caya.
His funeral Mass was on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Our Lady of Grace Church. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were by Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road.
