Esther T. Carlage

Former assembly supervisor,

leaves brother in Bristol

Estelle T. "Esther" Carlage, 87, of Dupre Road, Woodstock, Conn., and formerly of Bristol, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at haven Health Care, Killingly, Conn., after a battle with cancer. She was the wife of Fred D. Carlage, her husband of 58 years.

Born in Bristol on Feb. 22, 1917, a daughter of the late James and Rose (Brown) Conley, she lived in Bristol until 1946 and was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School.

Mrs. Carlage was a supervisor in the assembly department at Idle Wilde Farms in Pomfret, Conn., for 23 years and also had worked at U.S. Rubber.

She was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church, Pomfret.

She loved antiques, bird watching and the Boston Red Sox.

Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Sharon E. Wojcik of East Woodstock, Conn., two sons, Bruce Carlage of Brooklyn, Conn., and Dean Carlage of Woodstock; a sister, Nell Gray of Barrington; two brothers, James E. Conley of Simsbury, Conn., and William F. Conley of Bristol; three grandsons; and three granddaughters. She was a sister of the late Rose, Helen, Dorothy, Mary and Elizabeth.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Friday, Sept. 10, in Most Holy Trinity Church. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam.
