WARREN - A Warren civilian police and fire/rescue dispatcher was charged with three counts of domestic violence following an alleged incident on Sunday.
Christopher Johnson, 26, of 18 Kelly St., was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 3:30 p.m., after his wife filed a complaint with police stemming from an incident she said occurred earlier in the day. He was charged with domestic simple assault, domestic refusal of a telephone call, and domestic disorderly conduct, said Warren Police Chief Thomas D. Gordon.
Mr. Johnson was arraigned by Bail Commissioner Arthur Read and was released on personal recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Sixth Division District Court this Friday, Sept. 17.
Chief Gordon said although Mr. Johnson is a civilian and member of the United Steelworkers Union, Local 14845, rather than a member of the police union, his position is under the jurisdiction of the police department. Although the chief would not say if Mr. Johnson has been suspended, he did offer the following comment on his employment status:
"He will not be reporting for duty until the disposition of the case," the chief said.
Chief Gordon would not comment on whether Mr. Johnson is being paid while out of work.
