WARREN - On Monday, Oct. 4, Helena DaSilva, 31, of 71 Davis St., was charged with domestic simple assault, domestic disorderly conduct and simple assault after police responded to a disturbance near 82 Water Street at 11:41 p.m.. When police arrived on the scene, they found Ms. DaSilva assaulting a man and woman. The male victim suffered a broken nose and was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital. Ms. DaSilva appeared before Bail Commissioner Thomas Wright, who released her on $1,000 personal recognizance after issuing a no contact order with the male victim.
Later in the evening, however, officers were called back to 82 Water St., where they found Ms. DaSilva creating a disturbance and attempting to enter the residence. She was arrested again and charged with domestic disorderly conduct, property damage, and committing an offense while out on bail. She was arraigned in District Court the following morning before Judge Richard Gonnella who continued the no contact order with the male victim and issued a new no contact order with the female victim.
Then on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 11:50 a.m., the female victim appeared at police headquarters and reported that Ms. DaSilva had contacted and threatened her. Police again arrested Ms. DaSilva and charged her with violating a no contact order and committing an offense while out on bail. She appeared before Bail Commissioner Thomas Wright, who set bail at $500. Ms. DaSilva could not post the amount and was transported to the Women's Intake Center at the Adult Correctional Institutions. The following day, she was taken to court where she pleaded no contest to the charge. She received a year suspended, a year probation and was ordered to undergo domestic violence counseling, The no contact order with both victims was kept in effect and she was ordered to pay restitution.
