Woman struck and killed by vehicle in East Providence

Posted

EAST PROVIDENCE — A middle-aged woman was struck and killed by an oncoming car late Friday evening, Nov. 15, on Bullocks Point Avenue in the Riverside section of the city.

According to East Providence Police, the woman appeared to have run into traffic then was hit by an unknowing and surprised driver.

Witnesses said they heard a loud noise, a bang one would associate with a car accident. That sound, unfortunately, was that of the vehicle and the woman's body coming together in a violent collision.

Police said it's unlikely any charges will be filed against the driver of the car. The name of the victim was being withheld. The incident remains under investigation.

(Updated: Nov. 16, 6 p.m.) Police have identified the victim as Laurie Rozen, 53, of Riverside.
