William Lord, 69, Moline, Il.


William Lord, 69, of Moline, Ill. and formerly of Warren, passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 22, 1943, in Washington, DC, the son of the late Bernard and Beatrice (Wynn) Lord. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran. He married Carol Morin (Lord) on April 30, 1966, in Warren, and then married Betty (Holland) Lord on Dec. 23, 1982. Betty preceded him in death on June 1, 2007, and Carol passed away July 4, 2009.

Mr. Lord leaves a daughter, Dawn Lord of Pawtucket; stepsons Terry (Lisa) Holland of Rock Island, Ill., Michael (Dana) Holland of Tulsa, Ok., and Keith (Becky) Holland of Altona, Ill.; eight step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren; and special friends Linda, Benjamin and Tyler Henderson of Milan, Ill. He was preceded in death by Randy Holland on April 22, 1998

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb.14, at St. Mary's Church in Moline, Ill. Burial was at the Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion 246 of Moline. Please sent any cards of condolences to Dawn Lord, 35 Goff Ave., Apt. 809, Pawtucket, RI 02860.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
