Westport School Committee TV goes dark

That hit television show — 'Westport School Committee live' — has been cancelled.

Not for poor ratings, the school department reports, but due to the demise of the equipment used to air the meetings live on C hannel 16.

The issue arose at last week's Board of Selectmen meeting. Selectmen agreed with Superintendent of Schools Carlos Colley that broadcasting the meetings is an important way to keep people informed.

But no decision was reached on what to do about the situation or how to pay for replacing failed equipment or coming up with some alternative.

The matter will be explored further as costs become available and budget season proceeds.
