Westport Middle School girls finish 16-2

The Westport Middle School girls basketball team school recorded 16 wins in the recently completed season. They won the Massasoit League Southern Division title but lost the overall championship to undefeated Norton. Westport has won the title in four of the last six years with Norton taking the other two championships in the 17-team  league. Over the past six years under coach Greg Brien, the team record is 101-10. He has been assisted by John “Red” Cummings. The team graduates nine players this year but has a strong group returning for the 2013-14 season. Team captains are Kady Long, Morgan Wood, Emily Tripp and Hailey Charest. Other eighth graders are Ally Sasse, Kayla Ure, Maggie Lafrance, Grace Moran,and Abby Levesque. Returning players are Sidney Amaral, Madison Burt, Mollie Duclos, Leah Fellows, Sierra Majewski, Lindsay and Sidney Oliviera and Catherine Yeargin.
