Westport likes Obama, Warren

Westport backed President Obama by a 20 percentage point margin and supported Elizabeth Warren by about the same margin as the rest of Massachusetts in Tuesday's elections. Town voters gave overwhelming support to the Right to Repair and Medical Marijuana questions but rejected the Death with Dignity doctor-assisted suicide question. Voter turnout was very heavy throughout the day with nearly 75 percent of Westport's 11,600 registered voters turning out to cast their ballots. Still, there were few delays reported  at the town's five precincts. The number of absentee ballots — 615 — was up by over 50 percent from the previous presidential election in 2008. The Westport results were: President Barack Obama (D) - 5074 (59%) Mitt Romney R  - 3372 (39 %) J. Stein (Green)  - 39 G.
