Warren man pleads not guilty in murder

A Warren man accused of murdering his girlfriend in 2012 pleaded not guilty to the charge Tuesday, Dec. 31, in Fall River Superior Court.

David Sousa, 54, of 98 South Cutler St., pleaded not guilty during Tuesday’s arraignment on one count of murder. Massachusetts authorities say he strangled his girlfriend Lisa Mello, 51, inside her home in the Ocean Grove section of Swansea. She was found dead on Nov. 24, 2012.

Mr. Mello was indicted last fall; at the time he was being held at the ACI as a probation violator. He is due back in the Massachusetts court in late June.
