Warren hires Abbruzzi as treasurer

Former Warren Town Manager Michael Abbruzzi is working for the town again.

Mr. Abbruzzi was named Warren's new town treasurer/tax collector Tuesday night by the Warren Town Council, upon the recommendation of Town Manager Thomas Gordon.

Mr. Abbruzzi earned a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1981 from Providence College. He served as town manager from 2002-08 before leaving to take a job at the state Department of Transportation; most recently, he was the chief financial officer and general manager at 2nd Story Theatre on Market Street. He replaces former treasurer Ross Latham, who resigned in May after about a year on the job but agreed to stay on until a replacement was located.

"I am impressed with Mr. Abbruzzi’s decades of experience in accounting and finance. I believe he shares this town administration’s goals of financial security, responsibility and long term economic development," Mr. Gordon said Tuesday morning.

The position's annual salary is $63,829.
