Warren girl, 17, charged with DUI

A 17-year-old Warren girl was charged with drunk driving, refusal to submit to a chemical test and other charges after police pulled her over on Main Street just after 1 a.m. on Thursday, April 4. Lt. Roland Brule said an officer was traveling east on Child Street when the girl passed him in the westbound lane at a high rate of speed.

“He had to swerve to avoid being struck,” Lt. Brule said.

The officer turned around and followed the girl, who allegedly drove through a red light at Market Street before driving toward Main. When she pulled over on Main Street the girl hit the curbing on the side of the road, he noted.

Though the girl took a preliminary breath test at the scene, she declined to take one at the station, after her mother arrived. The girl was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and driving violations.
