Walk off the turkey

Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust invites all to its traditional after-Thanksgiving guided walk through Destruction Brook Woods at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24.  The 280-acre reserve includes miles of walking trails, mature woodlands, unusual rock ledges covered with many interesting ferns and lichens, and Destruction Brook itself, once a major source of power for the mills of Russell’s Mills.  The walk will start from the Destruction Brook Woods parking lot on Slade’s Corner Road. Please bring water and dress appropriately for the day's weather.  Usually only the worst weather will cancel a DNRT walk.  If the weather is questionable, call 508-525-9266 on the morning of the walk.

Meet our staff
Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
