Barrington woman calls police after receiving message

Posted

On Saturday, Jan. 12, a Barrington resident contacted police after she received a strange voicemail on her cell phone. The message sounded like a young girl in distress, looking for her mother.

Barrington Police first called the number that had left the message, but no one answered. They then traced the call to what they believed was a Newport address.

Local police called Newport PD, which said that they believed the call actually came from a Portsmouth residence. Portsmouth Police then sent an officer to the home and located the girl who had made the call — she had broken her ankle, was unable to reach her mother, and needed medical attention. She was transported to a hospital.
