Domanick Vitorino scored 14 points to lead the Westport basketball team over Atlantis Charter School, 66-43, in their first game of the year in front of a big home crowd on Wednesday night.
Vitorino’s eight points in the second quarter helped boost the Wildcats to a 36-24 lead at the half. Vitorino got to the line three times for 6 points and hit a lay up for two.
Junior point guard Darian Machado scored 8 of his 10 points in the fourth quarter. Twice Machado grabbed rebounds in the defensive end and ran the court for lay ups. On the first lay up, Machado drew a foul for a three-point-play. Later senior guard Roberto Ferreira found Machado on the arch and he sunk a jumper for three.
Sophomore Nick Payne scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half.
