Viola F. Cabral, 95, Westport


Viola F. (Miguel) Cabral, 95, of Westport, passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center in Fall River. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Cabral Jr.

Born in Dartmouth, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Rocha) Miguel, she had resided in Westport since 1934. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Cabral worked for the Westport School System in the cafeteria for 20 years.

She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her two daughters, Vivian A. Trecida of Westport and Florida, and Marguerite F. Perry of Westport; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Mary F. Williams and Joseph Miguel.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, Westport.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
