VIDEO: East Bay Summer Wind Ensemble performs in Bristol

BRISTOL — The East Bay Summer Wind Ensemble performed at St. Mary’s Church Thursday night as part of the Concerts on the Commons series.

The free concerts are normally held on the Bristol Commons, but rain moved Thursday’s show indoors.

The audience was also treated to a performance by the East Bay Summer Youth Ensemble. Both groups were directed by David Marshall.

Watch a video of the group concluding its set — as it always does — with “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

The East Bay Summer Wind Ensemble will next perform at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. Both groups will then play at Burr’s Hill Park in Warren on Wednesday, Aug. 7 (tentatively), as part of the Warren Concert Series. That show starts at 6:30 p.m.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
