A pickup truck was fully submerged Monday evening after rolling into the harbor at the end of State Street while its owner was attempting to put his boat in the water. There were no injuries.
Michael Donohue, a Bristol shellfisherman, was attempting to drop his quahog skiff in the water at the State Street boat ramp about 6 p.m. Monday when the emergency brake failed and the truck rolled backwards into the water, along with the boat trailer. There was no one in the truck at the time.
Check out video of crews hauling the truck up the boat ramp below:
Crews worked for more than an hour to haul out the truck and trailer, which had jack-knifed upon entering the water, complicating the extraction.
Bristol Police and Fire representatives were not immediately available for comment Monday evening. Check back with eastbayri.com for more information as it becomes available.
