'Townie Day' fundraiser successfully goes on despite inclement weather

EAST PROVIDENCE — By all accounts, the "Townie Day" fundraising event held Saturday, May 25, at East Providence High School proved very successful despite rainy, overcast conditions.

The event was the second of the weekend, following a just as successful pasta dinner held at the EPHS Kanelos Dining Hall Friday night, May 24.

Both gatherings were part of the ongoing effort to procure funding towards renovation the East Providence High School gymnasium.

Eastbayri.com and East Providence Post photographer Alexander Watrous chronicled part of Saturday's "Townie Day" festivities, which included a 5-kilometer road race in the morning and the food and fun that followed.

Below is a gallery of photos from the event.
