TOWN OF BRISTOL INVITATION TO BID - BID NO. 768
Sealed bids will be received until 12 noon on November 14, 2012, for furnishing the Town of Bristol with the following:
INFLOW SOURCE RELOCATION AND ASSOCIATED DRAINAGE SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
BIDS WILL BE OPENED AT 12 NOON AT THE BRISTOL TOWN HALL, 10 COURT STREET ON NOVEMBER 14, 2012 FOR THE TOWN COUNCIL MEETING OF NOVEMBER 14, 2012.
Bid documents may be obtained starting Friday, October 11, 2012 for a non-refundable fee of $50 and bids MUST be filed at the Office of the Town Clerk, 10 Court Street, Bristol, RI 02809. Bid documents may also be examined, but not obtained during regular busi- ness hours, at the office of Dodge Reports, 34 Crosby Drive, Bedford, Massachusetts. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope and clearly marked on the outside “INFLOW SOURCE RELOCATION AND ASSOCIATED DRAINAGE SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS, Bid No. 768, November 14, 2012.” Bids will be opened at 12 noon at the Bristol Town Hall, 10 Court Street on November 14, 2012. Successful bidders must furnish a performance bond on 100 percent of the proposed contract within 15 days after the award. The Town reserves all rights to reject any and all bids, or any part thereof, or to go on the open market when is deemed to be in the best interest of the Town.
The work in this Contract includes, but is not limited to, modifications to existing storm water pipelines and structures, including but not limited to modification, removal or abandonment-in-place, replacement, and new installation of pipe lines and manholes, and catch basins. Approximately 2,500 linear feet of pipe ranging in size between 8- inch and 36-inch, and of various pipe material, is to be installed.
Attention of Bidders is particularly referred to the Federal and State requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and wage rates to be paid under the Contract as determined by the Department of Labor and Industries under the provision of Chapters 12 and 13 of Title 37, General Laws of Rhode Island, 1956, as amended.
The successful bidder will be required to conform to all provisions of the federal Davis- Bacon and Related Acts which requires all laborers and mechanics employed by con- tractors and subcontractors in excess of $2,000 to pay their laborers and mechanics not less than the prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits, as determined by the Secretary of Labor, for corresponding classes of laborers and mechanics employed on similar projects in the area.
The Bidders attention is also called to the “Equal Opportunity Clause”, the “Nondiscrimination in Employment”, and the State MBE/WBE requirements of the Contract.
The Bidders attention is also called to the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) requirements of the Contract.
This project is also subject to Chapter 37-14.1 of the Rhode Island General Laws, and regulations, which require that ten percent (10%) minimum of the dollar value of the work performed on the project, be performed by certified minority business enterprises.
A pre-bid conference will be held at 10:00 o’clock AM on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 in the Bristol Town Hall Conference Room, 10 Court Street, Bristol, Rhode Island 02809.
