Posted by HerreshoffMuseum

Come join Louis Sauzedde for an evening of Tips from a Shipwright. With over 55 working years as a professional shipwright under his rope-belt, Louis Sauzedde has a lifetime of knowledge when it comes to building and repairing wooden boats. Over the past 5 years, he and filmmaker Halsey Fulton created a Youtube channel "Tips from a Shipwright" that documents many of Lou's wooden boat building projects and other how-to videos. The Youtube channel has become an inspiration to people of all ages, and with the help of local sponsor Jamestown Distributors, currently has over 10 millions views and 60k subscribers who tune in weekly to see Lou and his latest tips and tricks.

Meet our staff
Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
